The Role:

We are looking to recruit a Full Time Corporate Services Manager to join our busy and growing Accounts team in our Exeter Office overlooking the magnificent historic quayside. In this role you would be involved in managing and providing advisory services to a portfolio of clients including sole-traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and reviewing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities
  • Setting budgets for staff, providing assistance and mentoring support to junior members of staff
  • Liaising with clients over accounts queries and finalising financial statements
  • Meeting with clients both virtually and face-to-face
  • Undertaking tax and dividend planning for clients
  • Providing ad hoc support and advice to clients
  • Dealing with everyday correspondence and e-mails and liaising with clients accordingly
  • Reviewing VAT returns either prepared by the client or by the bookkeeping team internally
  • Reviewing personal tax returns and advising clients on their tax liabilities
  • Reviewing corporation tax returns and advising clients on the company’s tax liabilities
  • Managing a diverse client portfolio and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Client billing

The Person:

To be considered for the role you must be either fully qualified ACA/ ACCA and have Accounts Manager experience gained from working within an accountancy practice.

Knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks experience is desirable as are strong computer and spreadsheet skills. Previous experience with Digita and CCH would be desirable but is not essential.

You must be able to create great working relationships with clients and also be able to provide support with the training and development of junior staff.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, strong organisation skills and who is able to manage their workload in a timely manner.

It will equally be an ideal opportunity for someone with some Accounts Manager experience.

The role:

Our Personal Tax work is continually growing with lots of varied and interesting opportunities, and as a result of this, we are looking to grow and develop our Personal Tax Team with the addition of a Personal Tax Senior. This role will give you the opportunity to gain a broad range of experience in the course of preparing personal tax returns for a wide variety of clients. This is a Full Time role or Part Time role (a minimum of 3 days per week would be considered) based in our Exmouth Office situated in a superb seafront location.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of personal tax returns to include landlords, sole traders, partnerships and company directors.
  • Preparation of income and expenditure accounts for landlords, sole traders and partnerships.
  • Client communication regarding personal tax returns and ad-hoc queries.
  • Consideration of any potential tax planning opportunities alongside compliance work.
  • Liaison with HMRC on various matters relating to clients’ personal tax affairs.

The Person:

This will be an ideal opportunity for someone currently working at an assistant level to take the next step in their career, taking on more responsibility and more complex work, whilst still having the support to develop their technical knowledge. It will equally be an ideal opportunity for someone with significant Personal Tax experience.

It will provide an ideal middle ground between being given more complex work and responsibility whilst still being supported, and will provide the opportunity to assist with the training and development of junior tax staff.

We are looking for someone with Personal Tax experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. You may be ATT part-qualified or qualified, or preparing to start studying for the ATT qualification.

Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential for this role.

The role:

We are looking to recruit a talented Full Time Payroll Senior to join our busy and expanding Payroll Services team in our Exmouth Office situated in a superb seafront location. You would be joining a Payroll Services team of five in a role that combines running client payrolls, pension administration and all other aspects of providing payroll services. You will be working within a fast-paced environment where you will need to be able to perform well under pressure and be able to demonstrate excellent time management skills. Our Payroll Services team provides a seamless and efficient service to an expanding client base across Devon and the South West. The Full Time Payroll Senior will play a key part in the day-to-day running of monthly and weekly client payrolls and the overall development of our bureau.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing the work of payroll administrators, answering any of their queries and ensuring that an excellent level of client service is offered.
  • Liaising with clients to ensure that you have all the information required to run their payrolls, provide auto enrolment services and associated tasks.
  • Dealing with payroll and bank credits.
  • Supporting the Head of Payroll Services.
  • Coaching and mentoring our more junior team members ensuring that they develop into competent payroll administrators.

The Person:

We are looking for someone with previous payroll administration experience gained from within either an in-house or a bureau environment to join our thriving Payroll Services team. A minimum of 3 years’ payroll administration experience is essential.

You must have strong end to end processing experience.

You will have a track record of successfully coaching and mentoring individuals within a payroll environment.

You will have excellent time management skills and attention to detail.

You will have strong keyboard and IT skills and will be a confident user of Microsoft Excel.

You will have experience of identifying and recommending process improvements.

A working knowledge of Sage Payroll software is essential. Xero payroll experience is desirable.

The role:

We are looking to recruit an experienced Full Time Bookkeeper (although 30 hours per week would be considered) to join our busy and growing Bookkeeping team in our Exeter Office overlooking the magnificent historic quayside. Our team provides a seamless and efficient service to an interesting and expanding client base of small businesses across Devon and the South West.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for your own portfolio of clients.
  • Providing your portfolio of clients with a bookkeeping service up to trial balance.
  • Assisting clients with meeting VAT deadlines and CIS returns.
  • You may also be required to prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts for some clients.

The Person:

To be considered for this role you should have extensive experience of bookkeeping and preparation of VAT returns, ideally having worked in a busy practice environment, working with tight deadlines.

You will have a good working knowledge of accounting software, including Sage, Quick Books etc. You will mainly be using Xero and ideally will be well versed in its functionality, but if not, full training can be provided. Experience of MTD implementation would be desirable.

It is expected that you will be AAT, IAB or ICB qualified or part qualified. You must have good attention to detail and be able to work independently.

Personality and good communication skills are essential as there will be significant client contact including client visits where required.

We are looking to recruit a Full Time Audit Senior (although a minimum of 30 hours per week would be considered) to join our busy and growing Audit Services team. This role will be based in our Exeter Office overlooking the magnificent historic quayside or our Exmouth Office situated in a superb seafront location.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking the completion of audits for small and medium size entities including charities and academies in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing.
  • Accurately completing assignments within agreed timescales.
  • Assisting in the mentoring and development of junior staff.

The Person:

You will have a strong background in audit and accounts preparation.

We are ideally looking for someone ACA or ACCA qualified, although someone qualified by experience would be considered.

You will be used to meeting tight deadlines, motivated and have excellent attention to detail.

Personality and excellent communication skills are essential as there will be significant client contact.
