Hospitality and leisure grants
Businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors in England will be eligible for one-off grants of up to £6,000 per premises.
We expect this to resemble the previous cash grants available for businesses shut as a result of Covid lockdowns earlier in 2021, the Local Restrictions Support Grants, and so be administered by Local Authorities.
The ability to claim will be made available in the “coming weeks”.
Other grants for businesses severely impacted by Covid
More than £100 million discretionary funding will be made available for local authorities to support other businesses that have been severely impacted. These additional funds are topping up the Additional Restrictions Grant funds. Local Authorities will have discretion to allocate this funding to businesses most in need.
SSP rebate scheme
The Government is reintroducing the SSP rebate scheme for Covid related absences for small and medium sized employers (those with fewer than 250 employees). This reimburses the cost of Statutory Sick Pay for up to 2 weeks per employee.
Firms will be eligible for the scheme from today (21 December 2021) and they will be able to make claims retrospectively from mid-January.
Cultural sector support
£30 million further funding will be made available through the Culture Recovery Fund to support organisations such as theatres, orchestras and museums through the winter to March 2022.
