As one of the largest providers of home and business storage in England and Wales, Dainton Group Services, provide self-storage facilities, business park services and portable buildings and shipping containers for sale and hire across the UK.
Initially starting in the South West, Dainton has grown to become a national operation. They are a true example of a family run business, maintaining traditional values and have high corporate standards.
Dainton Self Storage is one of the UK’s largest providers of drive-up self-storage units with over 4,000 storage units across 14 sites, from Redruth in Cornwall to Darlington in County Durham, and has ambitious expansion plans for more self-storage sites. Dainton Portable Buildings are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of portable cabins, shipping containers, modular buildings and portable toilet/shower units. Dainton also operates eight business parks that provide flexible working spaces for many small and medium-sized businesses.
Continuing success and strong growth plans for the future prompted Dainton Group Services to find new business advisers and accountants, who they could work closely with in helping and supporting their expansion plans, and could also take a fresh look at business performance, financial systems and tax planning.
Since our appointment in 2014, Thompson Jenner have fulfilled that role, working closely with the Directors and Management team as trusted advisers, delivering strong financial, strategic and commercial advice, as well as supporting the company with day-to-day accounting and business services.
The business has seen strong growth in the last year with their newest self-storage depots in Bridgend, Darlington and Gloucester performing well in 2016 and sites in Bristol and Newport due to open soon. The services provided by Thompson Jenner that has supported that growth includes:
Moving to a firm of new accountants is not a business decision to be made lightly. Accountants and your Bank are probably two of the greatest influences over your business activities. Therefore, having made the decision to change, Dainton decided on which key factors would influence our choice the most, this included; customer recommendation, size of firm, geographical location, history of the business and most importantly the people within the business. Before making the final decision we met with the key people who we would be working alongside, a sort of interview, if you will. Their credentials were impressive with the number of customers to each account holder was significantly lower than we had been used to. They were friendly, professional and approachable and offered some immediate commercial observations on the business performance which provoked a healthy debate even at the interview stage!
Having ticked all of the key factors that we were looking for in an accountancy firm I can say that meeting the people within made our minds up completely. The transition period between old and new accountants was seamless and uncomplicated and having now worked with Thompson Jenner for two years, the firm has exceeded all our expectations.
