The London based juicing company with a unique range of products that in a few short years has rapidly expanded its market reach across the UK.

Our client, Botanic Lab, is a London based juicing company with a unique range of products that in a few short years has rapidly expanded its market reach across the UK.

The company has become renowned for its range of cold pressed drinks in innovative flavours, botanically enhanced and providing a number of health benefits combined with great taste. Cold pressing uses pressure to make juice, rather than chopping and blending

Botanic Lab was founded in 2013 by former corporate financier Rebekah Hall and professional chef Christophe Reissfelder, Their complementary talents, backgrounds and drive have contributed to the business achieving impressive growth and market expansion, with juices now stocked nationwide by leading retailers from Waitrose to Harrods.

Thompson Jenner started working with Botanic Lab in 2016. They were already growing rapidly and needed a firm of proactive accountants and tax specialists that could provide the expertise and support needed for their next phase of growth.

Botanic Lab is constantly looking to develop and expand their range of cold press juices and have undertaken a number of development projects which are technically challenging and innovative.

Working with the company we have successfully made a Research & Development (R&D) Advance Assurance application with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). By seeking Advance Assurance we were able to obtain clearance from HMRC that for the next three accounting periods any claims submitted would be accepted without the risk of future enquiry. This allowed us to claim the R&D enhanced deduction of 230% on all relevant R&D expenditure put through the company’s corporation tax return.

On top of this we were able to claim for the R&D Tax Credit (which can be up to 14.5% of total qualifying R&D expenditure after applying the R&D enhanced deduction). This allowed us to reclaim a significant tax credit in the first two accounting periods.

Geographical distance between us and Botanic Lab is not an issue at any level and we also provide our client with core financial processes and outsourcing services, freeing up their management time and allowing them to focus on their business.

Our services have and continue to support the company’s growth and success. Services provided include:

  • Cash flow and profit forecasting
  • Business and personal tax planning
  • Help and support gaining Research & Development tax relief
  • Payroll services
  • Workplace pension and Auto-Enrolment support
  • Bookkeeping
  • VAT advice and returns
  • Management Accounting
  • Annual financial reporting
  • Company secretarial services

What the client said:

As a relatively young and rapidly growing company, we like to outsource as much as we can of the day to day accounting function, leaving us to concentrate on running and growing our business. By working with Thompson Jenner, we have benefited from a range of outsourcing services which they have tailored to our specific needs, including bookkeeping, payroll and VAT.

Another area where Thompson Jenner has excelled is their specialist tax knowledge, where they have been instrumental in securing R&D tax relief for us. For a small company this process can be daunting. However, the help, guidance and support they gave us with our successful claim was truly exceptional and key to the positive outcome we achieved.

They are a great firm and I would have no hesitation in recommending them wherever your business is based, indeed Thompson Jenner has become a true asset to our business at many levels.
