Simon Lewis celebrates his 18th year as Partner

This year I am excited to celebrate a significant work milestone – my 18th year as a partner at Thompson Jenner.  It’s hard to believe that it has been that long since I first started as a trainee in August 2000.  Looking back, I am grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me throughout my career and the incredible support that I have received from the Thompson Jenner family.

I remember beginning my accounting journey with the sole purpose of helping people succeed with their businesses.  Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic businesses and individuals, and I feel proud to have been a part of their growth.

Reflecting on my career to date, I would say that one of my biggest accomplishments has been growing my portfolio over the years.  It has been incredibly rewarding to see those I have worked with go from strength to strength, and I truly believe that the Thompson Jenner partnership with them has played a significant role in their success.

However, it has not all been plain sailing.  One of the most significant challenges of my career has been adapting to the changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Overnight, we had to adjust to remote working, while implementing and advising clients on the numerous business support packages put in place.  It was a trying time, but I am proud to say that we rose to the challenge and continued to provide an excellent service to our clients.

For anyone considering a career in accountancy, my advice would be work hard and never stop learning.  The industry is always evolving, and it is essential to stay up to date with the latest changes and trends.

So, what sets Thompson Jenner apart from other firms? I would say it’s the incredible work environment and the supportive colleagues that make up our team.  We are all about helping each other grow and succeed in our respective roles.  Our unparalleled client base is also a testament to the quality of service that we offer.  All of these have played a huge part in my decision to remain with the firm for so long.

Once again, I am grateful to Thompson Jenner for the amazing journey so far, and I am excited to see what the future holds.  To anyone pursuing a career in accountancy, I encourage you to stay true to your purpose and never stop growing.  Onwards and upwards!
