Charity Quiz Night for the Exeter Foundation hailed a success

19th November 2018

The Lloyd Barnes annual Champions Charity Quiz Night took place on Thursday 11th October to raise money for the Exeter Foundation.

The evening kicked off with 26 teams, made up of local businesses, all vying to take home 6 bottles of Veuve Clicquot Champagne and be crowned The Champions on the night.

The businesses represented included; Exeter Rugby Club, Flybe, e2e Payroll Services, Kitsons, Ashfords, Denbow International, Global Services, Barratt Homes, Sparex, Luscombe Drinks, IJ Cannings & Son, Matford JLR, Foot Anstey, The Exeter, British Ceramic Tiles, Symise/Cobell, Patterson Law, Thompson Jenner LLP, Gregory Distribution, Linden Homes, Sparx,Northcott Beaton, Thrifty, Frobishers & Schneider Electric.

There were over 8 rounds of quiz questions on everything from general knowledge to music, films and TV.  As in previous years, reigning champions Thompson Jenner fielded a strong team, but this year they were pipped at the post by Patterson Law who took the honours on the night.

Through generous donations and support, an amazing grand total of £1900 was raised.  All monies raised were through generous monetary donations and the sale of raffle tickets for prizes, which were also donated by local businesses for the event.

Mark Lloyd, Managing Director at Lloyd Barnes said; “This is the 5th year Lloyd Barnes have held the Quiz night to raise funds for the Exeter Foundation, with each year exceeding the next, by way of monies raised, and interest generated from the local business community.   Lloyd Barnes is a locally owned business and The Exeter Foundation is a charity very close to our hearts with the Foundations commitment to the future prosperity of Greater Exeter.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s quiz but we are already having to consider a larger venue as its popularity continues to grow. We continue to be blown away by the support and generosity of local businesses, which typifies the spirit of the South West and The Exeter Foundation.”
