The Government has announced it will extend the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme by one month until the end of June. Chancellor Rishi Sunak said it was “the right decision” after the government extended the coronavirus lockdown for another three weeks yesterday.
The scheme, which allows firms to furlough employees with the government paying cash grants of 80% of their wages up to a maximum of £2,500, is available to all employees who are on your PAYE payroll on or before 19 March 2020. The cut-off date was originally 28 February 2020 but on 15 April 2020, the government announced this cut-off date will be revised to 19 March 2020
Eligible employees include full time, part time, agency and zero hour contract workers.
