Bumble and Bee’s success is a dream come true for owners, Debra and Toby Quine who always wanted to run their own tea rooms. In 2013 their dream was realised when the former Tourist Information Centre building, nestling is an ideal location, became available from the district council. They wasted no time in taking over the building and converting it to the type of tea rooms that have been the hall mark of their success as a family run business and their place in the local community.

It is about running a business that has a vision of excellence in all they do, whether that is providing the highest quality food and drink, excellent customer care and service, supporting the local community and being a great place to work.

As well as gaining a raft of five star reviews on TripAdvisor and Facebook, they have been recognised by receiving a prestigious two stars from the Guild of Fine Foods, runner-up for the Devon Life ‘best scone’ award, they have also received national praise in the Guardian newspaper when Bumble and Bee was named as a ‘Great UK tea room’

No small business can stand still and Debra and Toby are always looking for new opportunities to expand their business. Early in 2018 saw them take on a new venture, running the sought-after refreshment kiosk on the far end of the seafront. Bumble and Sea responds to the much-needed demand for quality food and drink for this end of the beach and has become an essential visit for local and tourist beachgoers. Based on their business ethos of providing quality and service, Bumble and Sea has been another success for the busy couple.
